Colorado Hosts No. 12 Texas Tech After Quarterback Switch at Baylor
The Buffaloes enter their Big 12 home opener at 0–1 in conference play. Isaac Wilson passed for 156 yards after replacing Julian Lewis at Baylor.

Colorado hosts unbeaten No. 12 Texas Tech for Homecoming on Saturday, Oct. 3, after using both Julian Lewis and Isaac Wilson at quarterback in a loss at Baylor. The matchup is the Buffaloes’ Big 12 home opener and their first game against a ranked opponent this season, according to Colorado’s game guide. Colorado is seeking its first conference win.
Texas Tech’s matchup preview lists the Red Raiders at 4–0 overall and 1–0 in the Big 12, with Colorado at 2–2 and 0–1. Saturday is Tech’s first conference road game. Colorado won the teams’ previous meeting 41–27 on Nov. 9, 2024.
In Colorado’s 23–13 loss at Baylor on Sept. 26, Lewis completed 11 passes for 75 yards before Wilson played and completed 12 for 156 yards and a touchdown. Those figures explain the attention on Colorado’s quarterback choice, but they do not establish who will start Saturday.
BuffStampede reported that coach Deion Sanders had not publicly named a starter at his Tuesday news conference. Colorado’s game center schedules kickoff for 5:30 p.m. MDT at Folsom Field.
