Bad Ass Coffee Moves Headquarters From Denver to Lexington; Denver Stays on Its Store List

Bad Ass Coffee of Hawaii disclosed on Sept. 22 that it had moved its headquarters from Denver to Lexington, Kentucky, and opened a distribution center in the Kentucky region. The company reported both moves as completed but did not give the headquarters relocation date or say how many Denver workers were affected.

For local customers, the corporate move is distinct from a café closure. Bad Ass Coffee’s franchise-territories page still lists Denver under “Current Locations.” It separately labels a Denver location “Coming Soon,” without giving an opening date; that listing should not be counted as an open shop.

Why the company shifted its operations

Bad Ass Coffee says the Kentucky distribution center is intended to provide more consistent supply to East Coast and destination locations, where it says recent development has been concentrated. The announcement does not quantify any improvement in delivery times.

The workforce consequence in Denver is less defined than the change in corporate address: the release gives no local head count, layoff figure or number of employees who relocated. For now, the documented customer distinction is straightforward—Denver remains on the company’s current-location list even though its headquarters has moved.
